Michael's Featured Wines This Month
Kerner Abbazia di Novacella
The cool climate and mineral-rich soils of the abbey's vineyards plus the extreme elevation make for some of the most intense and deeply concentrated flavors. The Abbazia Di Novacella's Kerner is dry, tangy, and medium-bodied with bright acidity, and good depth. The energetic and juicy palate bursts with flavors of peach, lemon, lime, grapefruit, pineapple, and green apple with hints of fresh tarragon and loads of minerality.
Montefalco Sagratino Scacciadivoli 2018
A rich hint of loamy earth underscores flavors of dried black cherry, anise, and dried thyme, with a touch of citrus peel, in this fresh, finely knit red. Full-bodied, featuring a dense core of tannins that provides firm definition throughout, though the balance suggests this should open nicely with some time for air. Dense fruit, cassis preserves, tobacco, and forest floor with prominent oak tones.
Routas Provence Rose'
Beautiful Provence Rose offers flavors of freshly cut watermelon, ripe peach aromas, and floral notes leading to a palate alive with wild strawberries and hints of mineral notes. Crisp acidity and a refreshing finish. Organic. Made from Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault grapes.
The sustainably farmed estate abounds in the agricultural diversity that is key to vine health. The 290 hectares encompass wheat fields and olive trees, and black truffles stud the earth. Red poppies give way to brilliant yellow sunflowers, and in the fall, the surrounding forests yield abundant mushrooms-cepes (porcini), and morels.
Passimento Pasqua Romeo and Juliet
Pasqua is one of the most innovative wineries in the Veneto Region of Italy. Their Romeo and Juliet Passimento is made by air drying the hand-picked Corvina and Merlot grapes to concentrate their flavors before blending into this harmonious and opulent red. The resulting wine offers Intense aromas of licorice, coffee, vanilla, dried fruit, and spice. Well-balanced acidity and velvety tannins make this an excellent match for braised beef. Three months in oak. The label graphics are fashioned from The Juliet Balcony, Casa di Giulietta. In the very heart of Verona
